Chain Sling Types Overview

READ THIS before you search for chain sling types

Below is the listing of our ‘standard’ chain sizes, grades and components product range.
As you will notice, not all alloy chain sizes and components are available in grade 100. As of March 2016, the industry has not completely made the transition from grade 80 to grade 100. For example, only a limited range of Foundry Hooks are available in grade 100 (and are quite expensive), but all sizes of Foundry Hooks and Web Connectors are still available in grade 80. Also, both types of Shortening Clutches are only available in grade 80 and because these are a more of a ‘fringe’ product item, we don’t expect them to be available in grade 100 for quite some time.

Here is our suggestion to you:

Before you start browsing through the pages in this section and more than 350 styles of “standard” chain sling types, here is how we have organized the listing:

A) Number of legs, within by chain size
B) By chain sling grade
C) Regular chain types first
D) Adjustable chains after regular chains (2-, 3-, 4-legs), see note below.

For example

: If you are looking for a 7/8” sling with Grade 100 Eye- or Clevis Grab Hooks, they are listed under the Grade 100 section.
: Same sling, 7/8” with grade 80 Foundry hook they are listed under grade 80.

6 Adjustable Chain Slings types

This is the sometimes most confusing selection decision. If you look below, we have 6 different styles of chain shortening hooks (devices or clutches). In the end they all enable a user to adjust the length of a sling to, for example, do a level lift with an off-center point of gravity.

Some of the shortening hooks are easier to use then others.
For example

: a 3/4” Adjustable Sling with a grade 80 Shortening Clutch and grade 100 sling hooks is listed under Grade 80 (yellow box)
: a 1” grade 100 chain sling with grade 80 Foundry hook and grade 100 Eye Grab Hook is listed under Grade 80 (yellow box)
: a 7/8” grade 100 chain sling with grade 100 Eye Grab Hooks is listed under grade 100 (red box)

For ease of finding the different shortening hooks, we have included a picture of the hook beside the chain sling description box (red or yellow).
