DF 5:1

The minimum end-fitting capacity must be equal or higher than the VERTICAL (90°) single leg capacity.

Required hardware capacities

The variety of end fitting choices is astronomical, so please select Rigger’s Choice®, Unirope®, Crosby, or any other Hardware as end fitting.
When selecting hardware remember that a DF 5:1 is required, means any ALLOY Lifting Chain hardware’s Capacity has to be converted from 4:1 to 5:1.

Explanation Note

Looking at the size tables below you will notice that the Master Links have a much higher capacity than what is required by the Roundsling capacity itself, and also even by the WSTDA Recommended Stock Diameter tables.

The reason for these sometimes huge master links is that the sling shall not be overly bunched or sits crossed over each other in the link. A certain minimum inside link width is therefore required.

Hence, the selection of the appropriate master link size is guided sorely by the inside width and not by it’s diameter or capacity.

ASME B30.9-6 (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)

CI 1905 (Cordage Institue)

WSTDA-RS-1 (Web Sling & Tie Down Association)

CROSBY Hardware

These fittings are easily attached and detached with either threaded bolts or by bolt-and-nut method. No special tools required.

 RIGGER’S CHOICE Hardware

These fittings are attached the same as Alloy chain fittings. Tools are required to connect and disconnect the fittings. This is regarded as a more permanent connection.
